I have changed a bit (you may have/have not noticed) of the side bar. I needed to add a few more bloglinks and rename some that had different titles. As before they are not in any particular order (fib, I alphabetized them by the first letter of the link as in http://a, then http://b, and so on) because the links tend not to change as much whereas the titles of blogs do.

And I am in need of a new title myself. Not sure what I will come up with, since I haven't the foggiest idea at this point. But with the season as it is right now, (hot, humid and busy) I am not getting as many comments or hits as I was. But I also haven't been stitching either. (thank you arm troubles)

Usually , well I should say up until last summer, I never stitched during the summer. It is too hot and I tend to change my activities. I am more apt to be out or up later with the kids. I like to stitch at night when there are fewer distractions. And usually by mid to late summer the goldenrod is out which means the ragweed is in full blown action . So I spent every waking moment with sinus headaches, sneezing and using tissues at an alarming rate. What happened last year you ask? Claritin OTC happened. Made for a much more enjoyable summer. I wasn't holed up in the a/c looking for relief of any kind. I was out and about and it was great!

The point to this - you are probably wondering- is that I may be able to get a few Christmas presents stitched up in time this year. I always get the urge to start them about 3 weeks before the holiday in prime flu and cold season on top of the holiday chaos. Here's hoping for a smooth and well planned homemade present season. wish me luck!

Feeling better

out of the sling and doing just fine now. Still a bit achy but not enough to stop me from day-to-day life. Oh. Did I mention that I am back to stash hunting for my kids?
I went to Michaels today, still no color variations yet. But they had the entire Linea section on clearance. I can assume maybe that they are trying to make room?

I shopped till I nearly dropped today. Not entirely sure how much had to do with heat to air conditioning and back to heat again over and over. But with the kit for AL, all new Norton stuff (I am about to expire, zoinks!. I hit Best Buy on sale with mail in rebates which of course are a huge pain in the butt, but I also love getting back the money and this is definitely enough to be mailing back in.)

And I got another "toy", well not stitchy but still what I have been hunting for for nearly 2 or 3 years now. A replacement Bissel carpet sweeper thingie! It was just shy of $10 and boy it works good. Which in this heat is a big plus so I won't need to vacuum (and heat the house) as much. I had been following them online for some time at Amazon and they were priced ridiculously and with real bad reviews (handles falling apart and such) but this one id metal handle that screws into each piece.. So here's hoping it'll last another eon. (My last one finally kicked the bucket after a header down the cellar steps- whoopsie! It had been cracked and not well for sometime but that fall did it in.)

Now of the humidity would take a break and I could get some sun I would be golden!

Not broken.
Which is a good thing as I needn't worry about lengthy healing I guess. But, now I wonder what did happen.
Any ideas?

It isn't constantly throbbing now all day. Just in spells (moved it just so or whatever) but I am still using the sling until it stops acting up so much. And the evenings are when it tends to feel the worse . So who knows- may be by the end of this week I will be all set?

She does gorgeously detailed work. And has a stack of very nice free patterns!!!!! I encourage you to dilly-dally and have a look see into June, and thank her of course!
Did I mention there is a free pansy? I am happy.

nope, not yet. I hope it isn't broken/fractured anywhere- I have been looking at recovery times and I am not liking it.
But a reason for all this trouble would be nice.

well the arm problem continues on so I am not on the computer much now.
But I have a Monday appointment to be seen and find out what is going on... I hope.

But swimming? Oh yes! We have spent the last few days poolside. Between neighbors houses, birthday parties and other such things- we have been poolside and it has been great. It hasn't rained in several days!

And Happy Birthday Gram! I know you probably won't see this, but happy birthday the same.

deep thoughts for a change

Summertime seems to be the worst for us. We, my husband &/or I always lose someone close to us. The first year we moved in the house, it was my husbands grandparents, months apart. Then the same summer my grandfather.
It was also a summer day that I found out one of my dearest longtime (nearly a decade at the time) friend was in a coma, near death, following a car accident I found out about while watching the local news on TV. She is walking and talking now, but will never be the same.
We have had several funerals between us. And they are never easy. And even ones where there were no services, as by request, as was the case by my great-grandfather. But they chip away none the less.
This time though, it wasn't me that answered the phone and had to break it to him when he got back. Which is pure torture.
Do you call him at work and tell him or wait? But one thing about answering is I feel like I helped in some way, this time my hands are tied. I know of no connections, a person to call and get the details. The service. Will there be one? Where? How soon?
It hurts to see those you love hurt.

A Tale...

...of a hungry hope chest. And the stash it didn't want to hold.
let me begin from the beginning.....
I was placing (most) of my stash into the hope chest in the livingroom that had taken me a few hours or so of cleaning out to make possible. (Hello! Found the wedding album! And the certificates from junior high? and so much more.) But anyways, I was placing my goodies into their "accessible and handy" new home and then , suddenly, as if in slow motion. It hit me. The lid of the hope chest built very sturdy by my Grandfather who has since passed. A lovely, and heavy lid came crashing down onto my arm. Then "it" came. Honestly , I have never hit my arm that hard before and I have had my share between chilhood, sports and factory /manual labor. Wow. So no stitching, or leaning (never notice how much you use something until it hurts!), or well, lots of things. But the Birthday party for my daughter still went on , with a nice dose of Tylenol. There was no swelling (strange) or bruising (even stranger) but the wake you up feeling and the feeling of bones clicking in funny places . Fun, fun, fun! So between bouts of numbness and terrible throbbing, I went on.
And here's the clincher- I had to venture into the hope chest today, and man you have never seen such caution in your life! A very sharp eye and ear on that lid that's for sure!

Thanks for the PMs at EMS, the Ecards and well wishes here.
It was a very nice day. Tough being a Thursday and all, but we managed to go out to Olive Garden (one of our favorites) and brought the kids along.
DH brought me a beautiful red rose. He was talking with someone before I guess and she had stated that he would be "getting 10 , right?"
His response, was a flat "No." I giggled when I heard it, knowing the source who would think nothing to spend $80 for a pair of jeans. That just isn't us.
And besides, one rose to signify the moment we became one.
How romantic is that?
