The last time I answered an SBQ was, well, so long ago that I can't even remember. Sure if I had enough energy I could just look it up, but, nah! I will just let "ages ago" suffice.
I can't even remember how I used to set it up either. *sigh* Must be summer brain.
SO here it is.....
The SBQ- suggested by Outi and is:

What do you do to your thread clippings?
Do you just scrap them or do you use them in something else?

I guess the best way to describe it is that it depends on how long the piece is, what brand, what sort of shape it's in, and so on.
Longer strands I tend to keep. I have used these pieces for graphing and just even to secure the fabric near the hoop. Meaning I roll up the edges and sort of blanket or back stitch a seam to hold it in place. I did that with the one I am working on right now.
If it's from a kit I have been known to just toss them. As they aren't really good brands. Unless for some reason I really liked the color or something and want to try to match it up to something else.
If it's in rough shape, it's gone. I have used some strands in the same project even as part of a tassel or something like that. Great way for scraps in good shape I think.

I think it was Tracy had a great idea- one time she used a hollow glass ornament and filled it with bits of threads. I could swear she included that as part of an exchange or something. (**scratches idle summer brain**) I thought it was a perfect "stitcher's gift", and I guess could be adapted for a knitter/crocheter by filling it with yarn, a scrapbooker/papercrafter being filled with paper bits or brads...

I did try to save some scrap threads this winter and put it in with the dryer lint, in the onion net for the birds. But sadly, I couldn't stand it and ended up tossing it all. Maybe this year will the year that I remember early enough and can find a way to have it handy to fill but not to "bother" me with it's appearance.


And a thank you to Renee for anwering me so nicely about who designed the piece she was working on. I apologize, as I was probably the one millionth person to ask her who designed something. *eyeroll*

silence, listen to music/audiobooks or do you "watch" TV/movies? Do you have specific favorites you listen to/watch while stitching? "
I like to watch TV which is spent more listening to TV. If I watch a movie it has to be one I have seen before or am not as interested in, say, when the kids pop in a movie.
Now with TV shows-I love to stitch to House MD, Heroes and Monk, and I do it by stitching during commercials. Those are three shows I want to see every moment of, unless it's a repeat (and with the current writer's strikes, we'll be getting lots of those) then I can look down and count more.

Yes! I taught a few people this summer! I sat down with 4 kids, T., J., M., and S. (my DD) and did a basic pattern of Yin Yang.
I don't think I have ever shown anyone a new stitch or technique. *headscratch

I was about to say no, but I got a cute cross stitch Christmas mouse pattern booklet for Christmas from my MIL. She also gave me a huge stack of yarns too! I know the SBQs are geared to cross stitch, but, stash is stash!

It has been ages since I answered one of the SBQs. But, I think you all understand. Right?

"How did you get started stitching?
Was there a person that inspired you?"
I was taught shortly after I was married by my stepmother. Must have been 1996 or 1997. It was a small kit that I started off with. Too bad I can't recall what it was exactly.
Inspired? Um, not really. I saw what she had done and thought how I'd like to do that.
Sort of like how I got interested in starting to knit. I say "starting to knit" because I was always interested in watching people knit and crochet, I just hadn't been hit with the urge to give it a shot myself. I was at an appointment waiting for what seemed like ages. There was a woman across from me, her fingers flying with knitting needles making a scarf. It was beautiful. I asked her a few things about it. Then maybe 6+ months later I think it was I dove into the knittyland. *smiling

blogging SBQ

"How do you decide which stitching blogs are worth repeat and/or regular viewings? Are there certain things you look for in particular?
Are there things you wish there were more of? Less of? Is your blog a good example of what you like to read?"

I have some that I frequent more than others. Could be what they are talking about, could be my mood. Sometimes I want more personal things, other times I want to just stick to crafts. I guess I like blogs that have lots of subjects.Learn what makes people tick. I have learned so much about other countries, holidays, etc. Watching things progress is so nice. I have witnessed how to make things that I didn't even know existed. Reading blogs is part of that got me ready to try knitting. You can only oooh and aaaah so long without wanting to jump in and try it yourself.
Things I wish there were more of? Not sure really. I read so many I feel pretty well rounded. Plus there are only so many hours in a day. Wait a sec, yes there is! Pictures! Lots and lots of pictures! I just love them!
Less of? Same thing I guess, but I can always "turn it off". I don't like whining. Rants are okay. We all need those.
No, my blog is not a good example. I talk and think much faster than I type and I think the "me" gets a little lost sometimes. I type like mad and then read it later on and it's a garbled mess. (Then I pick it apart mentally. But I have learned to let that go a little.*nod to my instructor Mrs. Leavitt- see it did take, a little!) Otherwise you'd never see anything here!

"Do you have a system for organizing freebie charts in your stash? If so, what is it? Do you print out copies of all of the freebies that you find on the web (that you think you might actually stitch) or do you maintain electronic copies of them until you are ready to stitch them?"
I do have a system, or, to me it is. I have folders organized some by holiday, some by designer/site, and others by other means. Any other person looking would be seriously confused. Say in the Holiday folder, there are folders for each such as Halloween, Christmas/Winter, Easter/Spring, and so on. The multi holiday ones would be in a separate non specific area inside the Holiday folder. Making any sense?
I rarely print them anymore unless I am just about to do them. I prefer for space and sanity that I store them electronically.

No idea. I guess I might finish off the entire sets of a few things like beads, and some Kreiniks. Maybe a nice lap frame that holds hoops. Other than that, I would be RAKing like crazy! The stash fairy would be dropping her wares all over the world! (Esp for my flosskids.)
