Where did I end up? At Sears Optical!
Should get the phone call today or tomorrow that my glasses are in. I paid the $10 to have them rushed. Plus I got a little something else! Sunglasses! Those I opted for the regular wait so that'll be about 7 to 10 days. I am usually a normal, sort of low key in color sort. But for the sunglasses I went my favorite color-PURPLE!
And all of this I got for the same price I would have paid for just the prescription glasses at Lenscrafters. Each of them are running sales/coupons, I just got the better deal I think. :)
Then I spent another $50 on the way out of Sears for a much needed winter coat for DD (winter coat for $30? Wow!), a shirt for her as well, two shirts for my DS and two shirts for me. What a deal!!!!! ( The machine there spit out a coupon on the way out to save $10 on a complete pair of glasses... My son may need glasses. His appt is the 9th and if he does -off to Sears we go!)
I am so excited!

more to love
I placed my first Paypal order online through needlework plus for Estaz threads and a "few" of the rayons "just because". I have had the ballerinas for some time. I had been just waiting to get the Estaz threads to go with it. No sense to start without knowing what I would have for the finishing tu-tu, geting colors to go together and things. All I could find for ages were colors like gold and pardon the expression, but, "Blechk!"
The rayons may give it that more realistic leotard look too. Plus they are sort of shiny and me likes the shine!
I plan to make one for my daughter's room. She can pick out the colors she wants. I am guessing a blonde, blue eyed girl, because that's what she is. But who knows. She seems to be leaning towards green for the outfit so far.
Depending how that one goes, and how long it takes, I may make some more ballerina girls.
* * * * * * * * * * * *
Now about the glasses......
My glasses, which I loved and have had for oh maybe 4+ years (I never really keep track of that you know ), bit the dust last night. I now have one armed glasses. Precariously perched on my face. And my planned appointment to get glasses (which I was going to make even before these broke) just now I have to hurry things up a bit, 'cause you know appointment first at the eye doctor which I don't remember who I had except for the last guy which I didn't like. So it's more of who I had before him. So I managed to get into a new Dr. today, 3 hours before said appointment (gotta love cancellations). Now I am shopping for specs. (insert cough, choke and sputter here over the price) The final place I have a coupon for wasn't open today. So I will call first to make sure they are and hop on over tomorrow morning. Wish me luck. I may look like the new old me!
How's this for strange? I am not as nearsighted, but my astigmatisms are worse.

vacation, at home
I haven't been around much lately, some of you may have noticed.
The kids and DH have been on vacation and we have been doing all sorts of things like....
Going out to eat. Buying toys (TV and stereo for the basement/game room). Spending time with new friends we have made... We have had a great time!
I hit a sale at Michaels- managed to get some more variations and the Flourescent pack of light effects all at 25% off! Hee hee. I am trying to pace myself with stash shopping. Counting down until Jenna's shop opens!
Oh and, my free thread (pictured) came from Ozark Sampler today. They sent it out really fast! I am very pleased so far... It's a beautiful limited edition color and they sent two free patterns with it. I have never tried floche. May be yet another new thing to get hooked on! The purple in this one is delicious.

chart packs
SBQ
Do you like to buy "chartpacks" that include charms, buttons, and/or beads or do you prefer to gather all materials yourself?
I have never bought a chart pack. Well not intentionally. I have one that has the fabric, pattern, rose and beads/pearls but it's not a design I would ever do. (It's in the Looking for a New Home section here.) It came along with other things I wanted through eBay. But I think by having the fabric it counts more as a kit.
But to really answer: to intentionally do it, I suppose it would depend on the price, and how difficult it would be to find the pieces myself. I think I like the hunt. ;)

Happy Valentine's Day!
We are expecting about a foot of snow and high winds tomorrow with the possibility of power failure so I am posting a little early. It looks as though the kids will most likely not have school either. So we will probably be in and out all day clearing (and playing in the) snow. May have to fire up the crock pot with some warm comfort food and maybe do a little baking too.

Daylight saving
Everyone had mentioned how early it was this year. So I needed to find out why. This is what I found-
"On August 8, 2005, President George W. Bush signed the Energy Policy Act of 2005. This Act changed the time change dates for Daylight Saving Time in the U.S. Beginning in 2007, DST will begin on the second Sunday in March and end the first Sunday in November. The Secretary of Energy will report the impact of this change to Congress. Congress retains the right to resume the 2005 Daylight Saving Time schedule once the Department of Energy study is complete." read the rest here....
It's pretty cool site to check out.

BINGO!
A Tatty Teddy kit!
I won the BINGO game at Linabear a couple weeks ago. I had no idea what was coming until I opened this up today. WOW! I love it! It's so wonderful!
Thank you Selina and Andy for such a nice prize! :)

I would have taken the pic myself, but my daughter is sick and this is the only moment I have had to post.....She was even impressed and "Wow"ed! (That's my girl!) My husband on the other hand was bewildered. He just doesn't "get it".:)
just when you thought you knew everything
Tracy originally tagged me for secrets (which was done, well, sort of), and then Laura tagged me for 5 things not revealed on my blog, so - I'm game.
Some of you may already know a snippet or two, but not through here so...
Here are the rules:
Get tagged
List five things that have not been revealed on your blog
Tag five other people
1. Family members call me Angie. If anyone else does, especially upon just meeting me, it makes me cringe.
2. My middle name is Starr. And yes, with two R's.
3. I can't stand the smell of popcorn. When I walk into a movie theatre the smell makes me nauseous. But, if I am around while popcorn is cooking I am fine.
4. Lizzie Kate 's designs are starting to grow on me. "Never say never".
5. I still want another praying mantis. BAD. Don't ask me why because I hate bugs.
I am not going to name specific people to tag now. I lost track of who has and who hasn't already done it and I am feeling quite lazy so- Tag You're It! If you want to be.

7am
See the snow? The plow had passed by several times so that soft cover was still on the road. Makes it so much prettier don't you think?
Yes we finally got roof raking levels of snow! I am so happy. We were supposed to get about 3 inches, but we has passed that level by late night last night and it was still going.
Real cold stuff will be coming in Monday and this is poor man's insulation. ;) So I piled some of the white stuff around the basement and then hobbled in....
(If you were wondering- I took the pictures, had a bowl of cereal and decided to go back to bed. It is Saturday after all...)

redwork WIP
I worked on this a little before and during ER last night. It's a bit wrinkled because I am stitching in hand. I don't typically do that because my left hand cramps up. But this is too small to use a hoop for. It's also old fabric and I don't dare put much strain on it.
I am using one of my sharpest sewing needles and DMC498.
Really hope to have this done by Valentine's. So many other things I need to wrap up and have been dieing to start.
The Linabear Giveaway was mailed out yesterday and should be received in about a week. It may be taking the longest journey I have ever sent before. Once it reaches its destination I will put up the pic I took.
Now to go and assemble a crib. Then on to taxes.

Very interesting to see "who" your friends are!
(10-16 points) You are Garfield:
You are very comfortable, easy going, and you definitely know how to
have fun but sometimes you take it to an extreme. You always know what you
are doing and you are always in control of your life. Others may not see things as you do, but that doesn't mean that you always have to do what is right. Try to remember, your happy spirit may hurt you or others.
(17-23 points) You are Snoopy:
You are fun, you are very cool and popular. You always know what's in and
you are never out of style. You are good at knowing how to satisfy everyone else.
You have probably disappeared for a few days more than once but you always come home with the family values that you learned. Being married and having
children are important to you, but only after you have had your share of fun
times.
(24-28 points) You are Elmo:
You have lots of friends and you are also popular, always willing to give advice and help out a person in need. You are very optimistic and you
always see the bright side of things. Some good advice: try not to be too much
of a dreamer. Dreaming too big could cause many conflicts in your life.
(29-35 points) You are Sponge Bob Square Pants:
You are the classic person that everyone loves. You are the best friend
that anyone could ever have and never wants to lose. You never cause harm to
anyone and they would never not understand your feelings. Life is a
journey, it's funny and calm for the most part. Stay away from traitors and
jealous people, and you will be stress free.
(36-43 points) You are Charlie Brown:
You are tender, you fall in love quickly but you are also very serious
about all relationships. You are a family person. You call your Mom every
Sunday. You have many friends and may occasionally forget a few Birthdays . Don't
let your passion confuse you with reality.
(44-50 points) You are Dexter:
You are smart and definitely a thinker... Every situation is fronted
with a plan. You have a brilliant mind. You demonstrate very strong family
principles. You maintain a stable routine but never ignore a bad
situation when it comes. Try to do less over thinking every once in awhile to
spice things up a bit with spontaneity!
Now don't spoil it! Have some Fun!!
Worry doesn't help tomorrow's troubles, but it does ruin today's
happiness.
