Tracy asked for 5 secrets about me and Prajantr requested 6 weird things about me. I think they will end up more or less to be the same list so.... I am cheating!
The rules: Each player of this game starts with the “6 weird things about you.” People who get tagged need to write in their blog of 6 weird things as well as state this rule clearly. In the end, you need to choose 6 people to be tagged and list their names.
1. I hate socks. Well I hate cold feet too and that is what they normally are but once my socks feel baggy- off they go anyways. This ends up being a day long game of on and off. If I could find non-wool, comfy socks with personality, I'd be a happy camper.
2. I don't remember names of bands or songs. That's why I never answered the meme a while back of what I listened to. I can't tell you! I can sing almost every line, but I can't tell you who did it, or what the title to the song is. Album name? Forget it. (DH is the complete opposite, I sing it, he names and dates it for me. We're quite a pair aren't we?)
3. I won't remember the movie titles either, usually. Can tell you a few actors names sometimes, and maybe even the entire plot, but not the title.
4. My hair. It's brown for the most part. With strands of black, strawberry blonde, white/grey, and many shades of brown ranging from a honey color to very dark. I'd give one of those cop shows a run for their money at first glance- "Just how many people were in here?". Plus it gets curlier as I get older. Weird.
5. I can yell with no effort. I mean, an operatic tone with no strain at all. My diaphragm tightens and I can knock the roof right off the house. No strain in the throat or anything. And because I can do this, I will take on the opera style just to be funny. Maybe I missed my calling.
6. If I sleep in a bed, I have to have the blankets perfect. Nothing askew. Lined up and just right or I can't sleep. My husband thinks I am weird for this one, and knowing this he will try to help me, I think it's to make me hurry up. All that fussing drives him crazy I think. But I can doze off sitting upright in a chair no problem.

productive day!
Shopping and more!
I now own 4 pairs of jeans, this is a huge deal. I had 2. Now I have four *grinning. I tried on and tried on a bit more. Not happy with the sizes, but I am happy to find the size, and in colors and what-not I can survive with. Petite is hard to come by it seems. And the definition of petite seems to be a grey area as well. ;)
And another observation, everytime I go to buy socks and underwear, they are all different! New sizing, packaging, or styles or something so that is winds up taking an eternity. I was a large in girls socks. Now the large girls fit my 6 year old daughter. Odd isn't it?
I picked up sand-salt mix from public works- all ready for the possible storm Friday. I dropped off a good chunk of recycling there too. Donated 3 pairs of jeans (hated them) at Goodwill. Mailed a package to Bangor today. And hunted (3 stores) for ski pants- it is fate you know. The kids always outgrow them in the middle of winter when the pickings are terrible in stores. And I can't pick up ahead as sometimes they grow in a way that they could skip a size or two ahead. Tricky.
Like my new simmer thing? I know I turned it wrong way around, I like the candlelight in the picture. My old was was leaking wax underneath it. Must have been some odd hairline crack somewhere....
Oh and I ordered a goodie for DH> We have a new pool table (long story made short- on sale, DH wanted one since forever, now we have one) and no clock in the basement where the pool table is. So I used most of my gift cert money at Amazon to get this little item. I think it's cute, sort of corny I suppose, but fitting for where it's going to be. Hope he likes it! Although I know he's going to say something about it being a clock. Since he's had the table down stairs, he's lost all track of time, *giggles. No excuses now!

cheating
Or at least it feel like I am.
I started a project for my MIL. It's a redwork pattern. Well it is for me. It's actually a full fledged preprinted embroidery pattern but she wants it done in redwork style skipping all the different colors and things. It'll look much better that way. And I offered to do it for her. It's of the Campbell's Soup Kids. So far so good! But I still feel like I am cheating with no pattern to refer to or anything.

The winner of the first giveaway at Linabear was drawn today. I used the highly scientific method of a hat, strips of paper with the names written on them and my 8 yr old son to draw the name. I will be going to the craft store early this week now I have the details of what colors to get. I PM'd Coral to get her full name and snail mail. Then off the goodie will go!
I was sort of surprised though as I thought more people would sign up.

It isn't ironed yet, or washed.... And I need to tap some tape on it since Pidy spent most of the time I stitched on my lap. Not in the way, just I have more kitty fur for embellishment than usual.
I had been wanting to make this for ages.
The "secret project" came up and it was the perfect opportunity for me to stop thinking about it and do it! It will be finished off, yet to be determined just how at this point, and placed in a scrapbook. I picked up a few the embellishments that may also go on the pages with it. Won't know for sure until I have everything laid out in front of me and see how well they work.
So stay tuned, another finish, (paper craft) coming up.
I think I have some of the sticky board stuff left.. Hmmm.....

hey, it's January!
So what do most people do? Since I am not most people. I bought a Christmas tree! >>Now for the rest of the story...........
DH took the kids to McD's as a treat today for lunch. I stayed home and decided I would take the bathroom faucet apart to clean it (don't ask, I am picky). Half way into that little project, I am slathered in Comet naturally, my DH rushes in to tell me I "have got to go and see this". My first thought is I am not seeing anything covered in cleaner thank you. He assured me, he had popped into Namco to get wax for the shuffleboard table and found a gorgeous artificial tree for 90% off. But at the price we had to go "now". SO off we go.
I had wanted to hit the after Christmas sale there, but missed it, or so I thought.
So for less than $50 I got the tree, a plastic case to put the 75lb, 7.5 foot, pre-lit wonder into and 3 sets of (very nice) ornaments..... All for less than I would have bought it for right after the holiday. I am one happy girl!
Oh and it's very pretty too! :)

bright ideas
well, or maybe not.
I got the bright idea that I would like a new email address. Partly to fit me, or better than the others did I think, and the rest to clear out a bit of the "junk" I have accumulated in my old accounts. Not so much spam, just I have learned so much as to how I like things organized with filters, folders and so on that it would be harder I think to make so many changes to so much. Plus I am so tired of all of the logging in!
So I sign up, and play with it a bit.
This takes care of the troubles I was having with a couple of blogs I was new to posting on as I needed a google ID. To have the system tell me I already had a Google ID, huh? Oh yeah, flossmom stuff!
I know long story but just hang in there!
Next I figure I should email -everyone. But not really. I have at this time 4 personal accounts. So I think the one the kids' teachers use, and most of my family uses could be just that- for them. So that's one account.
The rest I will lump into the patternnuts arena. You know- freebie newsletters (stitchie), updates to blogs (stitchie), new products (also stitchie)- see the pattern? These will be for my new one.
The remaining two will be deleted, soon I hope forever!
Just all that updating at other people blogs as I go(thank you Laura for reminding me to update that)! I will be changing my IM eventually. (Those that have that will be notified when that happens! And maybe a few new ones too.) And the last step may be the paypal. We'll see.
So I haven't stitched at all. But the basement is cleared out, my leaps and bounds. Thanks to all of DH's hard work. I helped a little ;)

Why, well I got them from the neighbor down the street a while back, maybe 2 weeks now, and I had to take a pic just moments before I used a stack of them! How often do you see so many colors? And they are as fresh as it gets....
Too bad I don't eat ham, I could have it with the green eggs.

That I received a very nice birthday present in the mail? Outi stitched a beautiful kitty scissor fob and enclosed a cute kitty card and two huge bars of yummy chocolate. (Yes, they have been sampled ;) )
Now the reason I am posting this so late is that I want to scan the kitty fob, but with the opening today I just didn't get to it.

And btw, I won't be on much tomorrow (Thursday). My electrical work is being done and the electrician needs all of the electricity cut off so he can do what needs to be done. So that'll be me, the popsicle, with no heat, water or other trappings. *Fingerscrossed for me the power company will make a fast trip back once the work is done to get things back on again quickly.

all wound up
I hit the Joann's sale on DMC this weekend at 6/96¢. I have 5 or so threads/colors left to get and I will have the whole cotton (117) set - finally. The three you see not wound are an 814 I need as back up (I am getting low) and two rayons I picked up "just because". I have stitched a little with the rayons, they are a pain I admit. But they look really nice.

post-birthday
My birthday dinner was great! We had a nice (early) dinner at Pizza Hut. I know, of all places, but I love their pizza and it was better to go there than to Olive Garden with an hour wait for a table on a school night. Besides, we went to Olive Garden last weekend! :)
And to catch up on stitching news, what little there is....
I spent a while frogging out backstitching. (Wrong color there!) I printed off the pattern in black and white and it dawned on me that I hadn't really looked at the color key. And there it was, I had done it all in the wrong color! So it's all caught up and then some, this time in the right color. So no happy dance yet.

dream. If not, tell us about your cross stitch dream… maybe you dream
of designing, dyeing your own floss or fabric, etc.
Why yes I have! A very misty, distant dream. I picture myself designing more then having a shop. I could focus on what I would like to stitch/see stitched and market myself to shops and maybe even magazines.
The only other way of doing it around here would be through online selling. There just isn't enough people around here to make it break even. So if my designs became popular enough I would probably offer some for purchase online directly through me.
But again, this is a foggy, distant dream.
Who knows.

So far, I have received a few cards (yesterday and Monday I think). DH called from work to ask where I would like to eat tonight. Val sent my stitched Valerie Pfeiffer Blue Jay at Christmas time, (she knows me so well. I just can't wait!) And I have had loads of well wishes at EMS.

Last night I started the backstitching on Garden Alpahabet Pansy. I added a single yellow "frame" to it. Nothing fancy, just yellow backstitching around the design. It just seemed right. I know a bit backwards to do so before the backstitching but I think it will look nice.
Plus it addes a defined border for the scrapbooking process.

Happy Anniversary to me!
Or rather, to my blog. My very first post was January 9, 2006.
Just for giggles, read the entire first month....
Let's see what has happened since then? I am a year older. I have learned my way around the computer a bit better. My online friends list has expanded. Blogging will do that. Not too bad if you ask me.

Goals for 2007
I do not ever set resolutions with the new year. I will not follow them and I know it. But after seeing everyone else's very detailed goal lists for the new year I got to thinking. That might just be more of my speed. Ta-da!
My goals for crafting, life and the in-betweens for the new year:

- To try /expand 3 new crafts. They may be in the same sort of materials/area of a current crafts that I do. In 2006, I learned to knit very simply. So that was pretty cool. I had wanted to learn for years and years. What comes to mind so far for the new year is-beading (want to make a counter thing for cross stitch), iris folding, and more "complex" knitting.
- To make new dishes. I mean try a new recipe, not the typical way that I do where I tweek it so much (don't like this or that, or to suit what I have on hand) it winds up being like the stuff we always eat. So this means find a recipe and buy the ingredients to make it and give it a shot. There's always a back up plan like PB&J.
- To buy and plan for Bdays earlier. I think of them weeks in advance and then remember again about a day before when it's too late to get a card out or whatever I had been thinking of.
- Finish what I have started I have a stack of UFOs... All of the been meaning to get to stuff. So I want, no need, to clear some of that up before starting anything else new. (Exception to the rule is the pansy, it's for a long promised thing, so in actuality I am getting things done as stated)
- Procrastinate less!
- Charity/good works.I think it would a great way to stitch what I would like to make but can't think of any reason or place to keep it for myself. Plus I have been dieing to try an Angel Quilt pattern of some type. I need to donate blood again- haven't in years- always get a cold or something so I can't. And I'd also like to try my hand at making knitty stuff for charity. (Hello, ties in to the 3 new crafts doesn't it? To be able to make mittens, or hats or something and donate a stack of them. Hello- learn to increase and decrease!)
So, I think that's a good start.

Stitching
So here it is so far-
I have started a new and hopefully quick stitch. Funny too that it will be my first "finish" in the new year. It is Ellen Maurer-Stroh's Garden Alphabet Pansy/"P", downloadable (is that a word?) through the EMS board.
I am stitching it as part of a (Shhhh!) new project. It will be added to a scrapbook page when done. The rest, well, I'll tell you when I can!
And yes it is tiny. I am going one strand over one on 28ct Monaco. I started it with two strands over one and it looked really terrible. So I frogged all the progress and started over.
(This is salvaged material too. I frogged a UFO from it. *snicker. I am so cheap!)
