thoughts~

I received very nice mags today from Spain! I haven't taken pics yet, I wore the poor camera out the last couple days and I am spending the remainder of the evening-relaxing.
Tomorrow, the 29th, DH and I are celebrating our 10th anniversary. No real plans as of right now being a weekday and all. But, 10 whole years. Two children, now 8and a half and nearly 6 (on the 5th). *sigh. Time goes so quickly. It seems almost surreal!

I got a new toy!

I finally did it. I have been wondering and talking about this for ages. The ability to make my own things. Maybe do a big project of the kids, a really nice one as a keepsake. I have been playing around with it for a while now. So fun!

Happy, happy , joy, joy

Looks as though I may not be around much again but ah well. Here's an interesting tidbit for ya...
So far- Precipitation For June 2006: 7.7 inches /195.6 cm , wonder if they are including the Hail we got the other day! Looks like someone came back from the beach and emptied their cooler about every two feet all over my lawn. It was nuts. I haven't seen hail like that, I don't think, ever! (yes a storm made me nervous, as it sounded like rocks being thrown at the house and I moved my kids further away from the windows just to be on the safe side.)
This is the same storm that took down trees which is why we lost power for a few hours that day. So I guess it's a "Welcome Summer" kind of thing!

SBQs

Today's SBQ was suggested by Vash and is:

Have you ever used a magnifying glass while stitching? If so, did you
find it helpful?

No I never have. But I assume that if I ever do use one I will get the kind that attaches somehow to the hoop/frame or something that allows for free hands. As I have a terrible enough time balancing what I use now! Hee hee

*****
Today's SBQ was suggested by Me and is:

How many cross stitch books do you own and how often do you use them?
Umm, this is quite sad it seems compared to everyone else but before I say the number I must say this: I have bought many of these through Edward R Hamilton, or with other deals like I had once through Herschnners where I bought 4 or 5 books and it only cost me about $15, all totaled!
I am only counting actual books with ISBNs...... And pic too of course!
D r u m r o l l
28 books, I believe.
Here they are slightly closer and in no order of any kind, it may just make them easier to read the titles this way for the truly curious. And no I haven't put them all in my inventory Excel file yet.

I haven't used them much, but I plan too. I have this huge idea to make ornies for Christmas, but as slow as I am, I am not sure if I could possibly make it in time!
I love looking through them! And some of them have some really cool sounding finishing techniques!

Howdy!

Yes I am still here!
We lost power for a while one day (major thunderstorm). And I have days it seems the last few weeks, that I have been unable to get online either because of my internet provider or the computer itself. So I will need a bit of time to get caught up with the SBQs and all. Can you believe it, I haven't even been able to answer my own SBQ!

Why didn't I think of this before?
I have created a running "purchased" list of what I have picked up for my floss kids and other swaps in Excel. So no more tally, add tax, get the total... blah, blah, blah. I plunk the numbers in and Presto! all calculated and organized.
Sweet!
And now I can bring up what has been bought in totals if I like-
Wonder how many threads I buy a year????? Now I'll know ha ha ha. So far, with in the last few weeks, (not including one floss kids not being added in yet), I have bought 124.

HAPPY DANCE!!!!!!!!!!! and so much more

d r u m r o l l p l e a s e ! ! ! !
OH and the biggest news of all-MY FIRST NICE FRENCH KNOT! yeah me!!!!!!!!

~~~Well just in time too! My first for the year! ha ha ha ha.
It isn't competely "done" yet- I need a little help from you all for that but, first thing is first... The pic of my "backside" (whoah Nellie!) and my Happy Dance are the same project so without further ado~~~~~
SBQ
The first request comes from Vash who is requesting pictures of
the back of your stitching
… are you brave enough to give this one a
shot?
The second request comes from Singular Stitches, and she is asking for "a
pictorial tour of [the] special place that you go to create your
wonderful stitched creations."
Not much to see here, so it's a quick tour,- an oversized recliner with a lamp equipped with my Reveal 3-way lightbulb. How else can I decipher navy blue from black at 10pm? (My peaches mag source is still in the chair!)
Now to the rest of the story. I am making this for a baby (soon-to-be)by name of Abigail Olivia. I want to stitch her name (first and middle as stated) and her DOB once she has arrive. I have leftover floss and think I will do the letters in a sort of arch shape.... Any tips or ideas? The color I should use? I was thinking of her name under the butterfly and the rest to the right of the bear.....
Critters!
Or more specific: an elephant and a bluebird! I CAN SEE THEM! Yeah!
the eggs
that didn't hatch for me. Seems as though they have hatched and no matter how many times I refresh or empty cache, they are just eggs for me. Ugh.
cross stitch Books
Ami got me thinking ... Dangerous I know!
I have been wondering if I am the only one. The question is
Cross Stitch Books
So how many do you own? Prefer them? And how often do you use them?
Before I can answer I need to go and count hee hee.
and if you are looking to add to your stitch book stash check this out:
Edward R Hamilton Bookseller flat rate shipping no matter how many you order.U.S. only though, sorry
And...
...did I mention the Stitchbow case also up for trades? Still in its wrapper.
DMC Stitchbows!
I have 56 of these for trades/swaps? Preferably all at once.
Sorry folks
Some may have noticed I haven't been around much. The school year is wrapping up for the kids and myself and all the school related stuff is kicking into high gear. They are cramming all the last minute things in ("Mom, I need to wear dress pants", this is about an hour before we need to be there. The dress pants he speaks of are not clean or pressed.) Plus all sorts of personal things as well. I am trying to clear out "stuff". Stuff in the house, cars, and so on. Weeding out the outgrown and wishing I could do a yard sale. We live in a great area for it, but it seems to always be more work than what we get back. More and more I am thinking Freecycle it or Goodwill it and be done with the whole mess! The near constant rain we keep getting doesn't help either!
UPDATES:
Peaches is to be backstitched and made into a card still I think. I decided to wait until the baby is born so I can add the birth weight and such and then give it to the new mom and dad. The baby shower was great fun- I got some goodies hee hee. Hopefully the next pic will be a happy dance (minus the wording)
And a new papercrafter! Here is a pic of what my daughter made with a little assistance from me. Her first ever using mom's special scrapbooking stuff. The camera flash washed out the colors a bit but is still looks pretty good! Woven is paper from the gift wrap (to coordinate) and the stars are drawn and cut out by her, also from the wrapping paper.
Today's SBQ was suggested by Carol and is:
Do you collect charts by one particular designer, yet have never
stitched anything by that designer? If so, which designer and why do you collect the charts but have not yet stitched any of them?
I collect many different designers and have stitched very little of what I have collected.(Did I mention how slow I am ?) I typically buy them because they are at a very good price (eBay) or I have gotten them through a trade. I just can't pass up a good deal! Plus it is better to have on hand for when I am ready vs looking high and low and being unsuccessful for the design I want to do later on.
The designers I am referring to are L&L and Just Nan. Although my intention is to add Valerie Pfeiffer and Margaret Sherry to the list . (Wonder if my Tatty Teddies count as well.)
