bah!

School is nearing the end. Do I want to attend the little ceremonies at the end? NO! Give me my little piece of paper and let me be done with it!

Stitchbow

I am swapping what had been started into the Stitchbow System through DMC into the old fashioned (that's me!) bobbins. I have case (new in pkg) , bows (not sure how many) and binder inserts looking for a new home. Swaps or what-not....?

stash swaps?

I have managed to "win" a few items and won't keep or need it all. I have patterns and what-not that'll be coming. As soon as they arrive I will make some decisions and let you all know from there... I expect some things to be arriving here in about a week or so.

Attaching charms/treasures

Okay I have these I plan to use in a project for Christmas for a family member. I have a few things in mind as far as the pattern and all- it will be:

  • a royal blue type decoration probably with silver and royal blue DMC Light Effect threads
  • fabric is still undecided, lots of options with my Silkweavers (hand dyeds and non) and the classic stand-by of white evenweave. I have an opalescent coming which may work.... I am thinking a light grey will make it all pop. See? Still undecided.
My question to you all-esp those with experience is: what thread do I use to attach these with?
I have heard conflicting advice. Go with the transparent type... Go with a thread that matches the fabric>what if it is a difficult color to match hand dyed or what have you. And lastly, how is it attaching a rather largish type charm as is the teardrop (pkg with 4 inside) - which I have my heart set on. Well, my plan is one on this project, probably in the center.....

Review:Picture Your Pet in Cross Stitch

Lesson one, when you are doing a bunch of typing and such= save, save, save! I lost it all when Blogger went down for maintenence. Aack! So here we go again! Lesson two, pay attention to the maint. schedule!

Picture Your Pet in Cross Stitch
by Claire Crompton
ISBN 0 7153 2070 X
(hardcover)

Publisher: David and Charles

Chapters
Dogs
Cats
Furry Friends (- chinchillas, rabbits and much more)
Scales and Feathers (-finches, geckos and more)
Horses and Farmyard Friends (- lots of horses; some sheep, goats, chickens and more)

This is one of my favorites by far. The charts look nice and clear and in color. And with these great variations! So, for example, with the Retriever patterns there are: chocolate, black and yellow variations. Wow.

Worth it? Oh yeah!

Wheels (this is for you Tracy)

An IRIS Rolling Scrapbook Chest. It comes with 6 of the Snaptop carrying cases and will keep my paper craftie stuff safe. I have a few things on top- I am still trying to figure out exactly how I want it. With some "use time" I am sure it'll fall in place.
I have been unable to get a good pic of my latest addition through web photos. I was hoping to post it in a way to lead others to it if they wanted it too, but- no luck. So I guess you'll have to hop into Joanns too if there's one near you... Even the online Joanns didn't have it!I can't even find it on eBay! So this will have to do for now. The Snaptop boxes I found for around $10 each and I spent less than that for this entire thing- good deal!
And a thank you to Joanns for the 40% off coupon! Or this wouldn't have been possible!
So my other hobby= scrapbooking/papercrafting. I don't limit it to photos and dabble with the stamps and such too. As I complete things I am sure they'll be here too. Sorry guys- that means more pics.... ha ha ha. Especially since joining a card exchange through the MSN Group. I have about 7 cards to complete in the exchange as we get out names every couple weeks or so.
But I have made another card, I am getting ahead of myself and plan to finish another in the same style a well. There are two members there I think that'll enjoy this particular style so when their names come up they'll be all set to go.
Forgot to add the dimensions of the chest:
16³/16" x 14⅞" x 24¾" or 41.12cm x 37.78cm x 62.87cm

Needleroll Update

sorry I can't show pics still ... BUT I am nearing the end! I have the backstitching to do and the final "make it into a needleroll" part. That's the part I am befuddled by honestly! But I have started "that part" as well- mostly experimental to see how it looks and I am liking what I am going with. Despite the fact it is going to be a bit different than the others had made, but, for a first timeer, it'll be alright! (I hope)

World of Cross Stitch

arrived safely today! I can't believe it is the June issue! How is that possible?
Between DH and I we have had Fed Ex and the USPS hopping lately.
What makes DH happy? A fancy knife set with a wooden storage block the size of my counter! (just kidding-almost the size of the counter!)

Never guess what I did last night, spent hours sorting through my freebie patterns saved on disc/ in the computer. Wow. I have lots and lots of them! Hee hee. Guess the name fits a bit!

Good News

The Royal Blue fabric has been shipped... And I have picked up a charm I want to use-unless I can find a different colored one but with the color fabric I want it to stand out so. Will sort that out when the stitching has started and I can see things together.
This is hopefully a Christmas pressie for my sister. I had nearly given up when I was unable to gt the fabric I was looking for.

New toy

I'll post a pic once it is properly assembled (needs the wheels is all)
Did I mention I have another stash accumulating hobby? hee hee.
Got it today with a coupon of course and who knew that Joanns would be the only place I have found yet to have such a thing! >Ever wanted something but couldn't really explain it, but you knew it would be "it" as soon as you saw it?

CrossStitcher!

Came today- my first issue by mail! I am so happy... It has that cute bunny on the cover and all sorts of new things to see! I haven't read it yet, I was so happy I had to make sure and let Val know that it arrived safely! *grins*
World of Cross Stitch is next!

On another non-stitch note- I am trying to build my touch typing skills as I am drawing near the end of the certificate program I am in (schooling). And must prove the typing skills! Not my strength by far. But I am slower this way so far and I am also making less mistakes so far by not looking at my hands all the time. So wish me luck. ( Mavis Beacon here I come!)

Oh and I got a laptop Saturday (dinosaur but so far it works). So a new thing to try and maybe utilize I still haven't decided. Don't worry, I'll email one (at least) of you guys probably before long as I run across "things".

Holiday

Today in Maine and Massachusetts it is Patriot's Day. So no school, mail and various other businesses are closed as well today.
Not to be confused with the holiday Patriot Day as proclaimed to honor and remember those from the September 11th attack, which is still most commonly referred to as "September 11th", or "911", by many Americans....
>>>edit: Mail does come -it is the town and state offices that do not operate, my apologies... So the credit union isn't open today and so on. Sorry

wish lists galore

Amazon has a another UK mag I may be able to save up for....
so now it's:
Quick and Easy and Cross Stitch Collection Or to choose between them. Nice to have options!

opinion please

I bought this for myself rather on a whim (gift cert with money still left!)
So I love this pattern esp the color... What kind of fabric suits it? More green? A purple? Hmmm. This'll be hopefully this year once I have caught up on and sent my needleroll and bear to my niece. I am thinking a hand dyed will be good for this one and I have no idea what I want to do with it once it is complete.

I have almost no sewing skills and was thinking a bell pull or pillow type thing. Decisions, decisions! I am leaning towards pillow.....
Not to mention a certain Mad Bird in my want-to-do pile!

silkweaver

Look what came today! This is a mini-solo and two Spruce Green 18ct.
How much more perfect can a solo be than purple!

And one more order : Royal Blue that I have been looking for!

silkweaver & kids

I think I am waiting for either 2 or 3 orders to come...
pathetic! hee hee hee.

Good news: Floss kids have received their things and ironically on the same day. (Mexico-A) (England-G)

stranger than fiction

  1. I mailed the proof of the check (front and back) to Herrschners.
  2. I receive a rebate for a small amount from said company with no letter of explanation.
  3. I call them and say so.
  4. They tell me: I was in the computer, my order was mailed the 11th, and that was to reimburse the discontinued fabric (Davosa).
  5. Oh! And they'll reimburse the bank fee.
  6. I am happy.
  7. Now to go back to staring at the mailbox!

counting

Aha, so people do read! I now have the numbered proof! *ha ha ha*

And I have decided-secret type stitchings are terrible for the mind. No cheers of well wishes after an WIP pic. I just carry on frogging every now and then (don't ya just hate that?) Especially when it is really stupid ones. I suppose they all are though.

Herrschner's 'proof' is in the mailbox... How long should I give them?

And tonight I have class and must sit and do a sort of review as my mind is foggy from no class in 3 weeks- not that it is a bad thing! And did I mention? We will be starting the 2nd part of Advance Accounting, a few more "must do's" (test out of typing ha ha ha, and a job shadow and meet with the workforce person) and I am done. All done school.

Herrschner's

*grumble*
So, I call them today asking where my order is : mailed the 17th of March and they cashed the check on the 23rd so... Where's my stuff? They informed me there is no order through them since, um when I ordered Outi's stuff I believe. They want me to send a copy of the check from the bank- both front and back-and include a note stating, this is a quote by phone, "Unable to locate order. Copy of canceled check." And of course my credit union charges a fee for this lovely little copy. Not much mind you , but not the point. And my "little note" will say as much.
I ordered because of an email from them , (I subscribe to all newsletter/sale related stuff) with an offer of- if you order $25 worth of stuff -the shipping is free. And let me tell you their shipping is steep so I jumped on the chance.
I knew there would be problems, just had a feeling!

been stitching like mad

..but I can't post pics..... It is the LinaBear Tiny Needleroll Exchange, which I am very late on, but thankfully Selina is a patient recipient (sorry Selina!) Plus she and I are swapping mags and I will be able to ship it together- hopefully. I was going to ship the mag ahead but, what ever goes as planned?
When Selina has received her needleroll I will post the pic.
Good news, Silkweaver (previous entry) has been shipped out.
Still no word, or books,on the Herrschner's order yet.

wow

Have you seen this on Rosa's blog?

Spring!

It is officially Spring! I have had robins, seen the Eastern Phoebe and the last and final sign - the Peepers songs at night. You can hear the peepers here.

new thing

I have only within the last few months discovered something. I like cute mouse patterns, and I hate mice. Or should I say, any rodent. (Not to make the other icky critters feel "left out".)
I can say this because I adore those little large eyed mice in the Merry Mouse series'.
...Ain't that odd?

why must I do this??????

Why must I post pics? Answer- because I can!

Instant gratification via Patternsonline!

Gift certificates are great!

Isn't this handy?

Counted Cross Stitch, Needlework, and Stitchery Page must add this to my side bar!

update on this and that...

There is so much at this point, I don't know where to begin!

I have mailed two of my floss kids things out which, I bought everything before I got the flu just didn't make it to the post office until much later than originally planned. So zoom to Mexico, and zoom to England.
I haven't decided if I will be using the official names of my floss kids yet. That's why I have just referred to them by country, which is not a real good way as a couple have the same country! I have referred to them also (to other floss kids) by initial, but again, 3 have the same first initial.
Well the exception is seems according to my guess at this point is Val- because I did a huge thank you to her for my lovely subscriptions which could arrive anytime now!
So mental note, ask them!

~I am getting a goodie! What you ask? A handmade bear just for me! Check out the link here! It'll be well worth it I am sure!

Wednesday already?

SBQ Do you stitch "on the go?" (On the commute to and from work, during your lunch break, waiting for the kids, etc.)
If so, do you have a specific "travel" project or do you just grab whatever you happen to be working on and take it with you?
No I don't, if I can't get out my goodies and be undisturbed for at least an hour, I won't bother. Although I have been eyeing a couple kits that have come with my wonderful UK mags. SO I may in the future, but only something really small.
