from an email

True love is neither physical, nor romantic.
True love is an acceptance of all that is, has been, will be, and will not be.

sunday with a little sun

Sunday came and a little sunshine crept into my heart, after a heart-to-heart.
I talked via IM with Val and my mood finally lightened a little. I had spent most of the time ill with grief over Chris E's death. (I had what I thought was the stomach flu after his appt, it wasn't the flu.)
I never knew how much pain it is really to lose someone, even a feline, so close to me. I have cried and cried to the point that my eyes are swollen all the time making it hard to see. I wanted to shut down completely. Feeling as though I let him down. And that I was going crazy. The day he passed I kept seeing him, hearing him, it hurt so much. But in talking to Val- it's part of letting him go, and I am not going crazy.
I made it out to the grocery store today. It helped. I will try to hit the craft store tomorrow. I need threads for my flosskid Monique. She gave me the list over a week ago and with storms, and my van being out of commission (DH has been working loads of overtime so time to get to the car has been just as tough) and Chris E. I just haven't made it- anywhere.
I realized today I will still miss him and be sad sometimes but I can't wrap myself in it, despite how easy that would be.
Just don't be surprised if I act a little coo-coo for a bit.
Thanks for listening.

what is normal?

My kitty, Pidy, who is 12 is acting very odd now. It's sort of bittersweet, he's slept the last couple nights in Chris E.'s fav place. And he's been sniffing around, following me like crazy, well, he usually does but now it's like he won't let me out of his sight.... and so on.
For anyone who has had this happen, is this how it goes?
What was it like for you?

Thank you

Thank you for your kind thoughts and words. It's still hard. I don't know when I will be able to complete my Cats project. It may be a while. Maybe never I don't know.

The van is back from the shop- $273 later. *sigh.

Things just don't seem to be getting any better....

Rainbow Bridge

After 13 years of bringing joy into our lives, Chris E. passed away today. I stroked his head and body while he passed. I whispered to him as long as I could talk, being too overcome to speak at the end.

no, thank you.

I have enough on my plate thank you. I do not want any more.

Chris E. has two large lumps in his lower abdomen. From Saturday to Sunday I noticed a lump that wasn't there before in his neck, it's about the size of a small grape. He hasn't stopped throwing up since late Sunday/early Monday. He is still happy and purring to be touched but really doesn't look well. I have set up an appointment for him tomorrow at the vet. I don't know if I will be bringing him back home. I realize with what I have seen so far, I really think it's in his lymph nodes, and that it's cancer. A neighbor may be taking me to his appointment since I had my van towed from the driveway today (thank you AAA) to the garage. I'll find out hopefully tomorrow early a.m. what is happening with that too. Either way Chris E.'s appt can't wait.

post Valentine's Day

Here is the rose from DH on Valentine's Day. This is the first chance I have had to post pics. Just love that macro button!
I will be playing a ton this summer and spring with the macro setting outside. I am sure natural light will be so much better.

And I had a surprise come in the mail a few days ago- all the way from Anne! Chocolate and Tatty Teddy! It's so perfect!!!!!! Thank you so much Anne! I haven't the courage to wreck such a perfect package, yet..... !

Valentine's Day

to everyone

Tam's Creations has new designs for Valentines Day!

solace

Can winter be done now please?

The chimney had jet black smoke pouring out of it and I called the furnace guy yesterday. He came over first thing this morning. It was a simple faulty nozzle that had been replaced but had been defective I guess. He fixed it free of charge.

I have started a (paper) journal, well sort of, just dumping my thoughts and feelings in it for right now. I think I need to try to point out at least one good thing each day.

Chris E. is complete: My stitching is really helping me right now too. It's on my mind all day. With the daily highs and lows it's the light at the end of the tunnel each day for me. Yeah for stitching!
(The close up was done with the fancy little flower button. Thanks Laura!)
A little tip I have learned is to use two different colored needles, this way as I had two colors going at once (a new thing for me btw, this is a project of many firsts) it helped me with dark golden yellow on one and golden yellow on the other. At least with this one anyways.
My daughter is in love with this design.

funny thing happened on the way to pick up milk

After replacing the pump in the well, fixing the vans tie rods and replacing 3 tires ($), replacing most of the exhaust system in DH's car plus a new tire -blah blah ($), fixing the broken dryer ($), having the furnace cleaned ($), dealing with phone repairs (no money just time and hassle and no landline for days at a time).....
I started my van and felt and heard a "Boom!". It runs, barely. I managed to pull across the street realizing how difficult it was to turn the steering wheel and pulled it back into the driveway. I am no mechanic, but the belts on one side aren't moving and it's making a funny noise.
So I decided to come back in to the house and cry.
The End.

progress and random thoughts

How cool is this? I have never heard of -Kitchener stitch.

Sorry to bore you all, but, I find that by posting here I get even more motivated. It's kind of cool. :) I am pleased in looking back a bit to see how much I have done instead of focusing on what I haven't.
There's so much I want to do this year. And quite frankly I feel that it helps keep me sane. Go me.
If I could complete a project each month I think it would be great.

Non stitchie news- oil is being delivered tomorrow. The price has come down to less than $3 a gallon.
I had the furnace cleaned last week so I feel better. Things are changed and cleaned and hopefully will work even better.

It's 50-50 the Venus Flytrap will make it. *fingercrossed*

It snowed almost all weekend. And it will snow again starting Tuesday night I think. Right now the sun is shining but it's bitterly cold. My guess is there will be no school or a delay or something on Wednesday.
Oh to see daffodils!

Hey! There's two!

I stopped stitching just before MadTV came on last night.

You Make My Day Award

Thank you Angelsan for the "You Make My Day Award". What a nice surprise to see in my comments!

The Rules:
"Give the award to up to 10 people whose blogs bring you happiness and inspiration and make you feel so happy about blogland! Let them know by posting a comment on their blog so that they can pass it on. Beware! You may get the award several times!"

I would like to try and post names that haven't been nominated but I have a feeling that could be difficult to avoid, and in that case, you may just be nominated again!
I nominate-

Val (aka Poppy) my flosskid and dear friend who is an incredible stitcher, mom and confidante.

Tracy (Whispers of Rain), is the heart and soul of Flossmoms, does incredible things ranging from stitching, quilt making and (fundraising) walks to aid so many charities. She has a ton of love to give.

Anne (Life, Stitching and Everything) also my flosskid and the fastest typist (*winks to Anne).

Pamela(Kitty and Me Designs) who like the others mentioned and Fiber Dreams, I must read every day I can. She has an eye for color that is incredible! Pamela- designs, crazy quilts (with a machine and by hand) and collects the coolest stuff!

Vicki (Southern Stitcher) whom I have only known a little while now stitches a wide range of fun and interesting things. It's fun to see how fast they come along!

prajantr (hearth-Craft) with a huge range of crafts that she does, plus cooking! (Oh the food...) Her writing is truly top-notch.

Outi (Just thinking aloud) shares her thoughts, trials and oh-so-many goodies with us. It's a great place to read and get lost in it all.

Emily (The Floss Box) posts all sorts of fun things!

Kathy a new friend from SanMan Originals.

...off to post on their blogs!

eBook Release

Pamela Kellogg's E-Book, "Elegant Crazy Quilt Seam Treatments" Volume 1 is now available for purchase!
It looks like a must-have to me!

Cats update

Here's a quick pic before bed.
The plan is to continue up the yellow tail, the swing and start the body of the second cat, Chris E.

tthe world's slowest stitcher

This is my first Margaret Sherry design.
I filled it all of the white last night. It was nice as I didn't have to count nearly as much.
I started this one in the top left of the chart, which is a new thing for me, so I started with the pinks and browns at the top. Typically I start from the center.
Most of this project seems to be rethreading; just not used to such short pieces of thread!
But at least it starting to look like a cat! Whoo hoo!
I will move on to the seat part so I can finish with the first kitty's tail, and then to the yellow cat. Still sort of wrestling out whether I chose the right colors or not for him. We'll see at soon as I start in!
Btw, the dark cat is Pidy, and the yellow one is Chris E. after my own two fat kitties. The likeness is uncanny!
If you pop on over to Angelsan's you'll see what it will be once done.... Yes, proof that I am the world's slowest stitcher! (Yours came out wonderful San!)

And the best part is normally I spend so much time agonizing over what to stitch that I don't get them started! By grabbing this while running out the door it was a release almost in that I just liked it, started it and didn't bog myself down with the details.
What a cool thing!

Post Office Visit!
Saturday I mailed out the item for the Valentine's Train (exchange) over at SanMan Originals message board. I will post a pic once it's received.

The Mail Race, hee hee:Let's see how long it takes two packages mailed at the same time to the same place, albeit one is much heavier than the other, to reach their destination in England. I mailed some threads to my flosskid Val, and a package of goodies to her kids (just 'cause). I forgot to take pics of course. *sigh.

Isn't this cute! When I was playing with my new camera after Christmas Pidy insisted that he sit on my lap and I took picture after picture playing with the flash settings. All I can think of for this one is, "MWhaa!", just so fitting for Valentine's Day!
